Earth Day Listening: Catamount Comeback

Happy Earth Day!

Today is a celebration of the living world around us, and a reminder that we all have a role to play in its future. We believe one of the most hopeful acts is helping restore nature’s missing pieces.

Across the world, there are powerful stories of wildlife comebacks—jaguars returning to parts of their historic range in Mexico, giant river otters repopulating Argentina’s rivers, tiger populations rebounding in India and Bhutan, and beavers recovering and reshaping landscapes across Europe and North America.
These stories inspire us and fuel our work to consider the return of our region’s missing top carnivore: the catamount.

That’s why we’re excited to share a brand new podcast episode released today on Rewilding the World with Ben Goldsmith: “The Cougar Comeback,” featuring myself and Emily Carollo from the Cougar Research Collaborative in conversation about the movement to bring catamounts home to the Northeast.
